DESCRIPTION
AACE were contracted by a UK MOD customer over a two-year period to provide Software and Safety Advisor support for four variants of a major UK rotary wing platform.
SCOPE
The focus of the support required was specialist advice on the safety of Software (SW) and Programmable Elements (PE) within a number of legacy and new variants of this platform, determining compliance with DS 00-055, DS 00-056 and related US standards. For the legacy platforms, a number of new modifications were being embodied, which required detailed analysis of the manufacturers plans, processes and, ultimately, compliance evidence. The task scope was expanded with the planned procurement of a new variant, for which engagement was required from the outset, including support at Design Reviews as well as routine Safety Working Groups and technical interface meetings. This support was provided in UK and overseas, requiring a fluid and flexible approach to delivery for which the customer was very grateful.
In the wider safety arena, AACE produced and updated safety management plans, hazard logs, loss models, Safety Assessment (Case) Reports (SAR / SCR) and ALARP assessments for the four platform variants and their sub-systems.
OUTPUT DELIVERED
The original plan for delivery of safety artefacts and associated reports was changed a number of times to match availability of data from the supplier and other agencies. AACE remained both technically and commercially flexible, to consistently meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.
I would highly recommend the team for their professionalism, diligence, experience and can-do approach
